David E. Salzar
(Died April 10, 2008)

Funeral services for Mr. David Salzar will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 10:00a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Rev. Jeff Powers and Rev. Richard Gillet will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday with the family present from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Salzar passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. He attended Washington State University where he earned a B.S. degree in Physics. Mr. Salzar worked for G.E. as a Physicist for nineteen years. His job included working on the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo Space programs for NASA . Prior to his employment with G.E., he worked for the U.S. Navy ballistic missile development program in Corona, California. He later worked for RAMCO until his retirement in the late 1990’s. He traveled all over the world with his work over his career. He was proud of his most recent work as a tutor for math students in the Cypress – Fairbanks School District before his health failed him and he moved to Teague. He is survived by his children, Wayne Gillet & wife Hetty of Dallas, Ronald Gillet & wife Suzy of Fredericksburg, Richard Gillet & wife Jean of Teague, Janice Mayfield & husband Craig of Conroe, and Patricia Henderson & husband Rick of Houston; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Adrienne Lierman & husband Joe of San Diego, CA.; one brother, Richard Salzar & wife Barbara of San Diego, CA.; five sister-in-laws, Pat Kouts of Galena Park, Babs Kouts of Belport, New York, Joyce Kouts of San Lorenzo, CA., Shirley Smith & husband Art of Worchester, Massachusetts, and Elaine Zirkle of Monroe, LA.; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Salzar was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn A. (Kouts) Salzar; his father, Adrian Salzar; and his mother, Dorothy Smith.
