Bittner

Leona J. Bittner, 91, a life-time resident of the La Grange area, died Wednesday, Sept. 28 in Center.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda with the Rev. Mark Sfollett officiating. Burial was in the La Grange City Cemetery.

Born Sept. 21, 1914 in Freyburg, she was the daughter of Henry and Louise (Kahler) Stoever. She married Arthur Heinrich in 1932 in Freyburg. He died in 1949. She married Gilbert Ernst Bittner in La Grange in 1962. He died in 1994. She was a home-maker and member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda and recently became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jasper.

Survivors include a daughter, Gladys Schilhab and husband Wayne of Channelview; four sons, Fred Heinrich and wife Sharon of Dallas, Lawrince Heinrich of La Grange, Alfred Heinrich and wife Elizabeth of Cottonwood, Ala., and J.C. Heinrich and wife Cathy of Hemphill; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren;  and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; a son, Leon Heinrich; a daughter-in-law, Rosie Lee Heinrich; grand­daughter, Brenda Lee Mark Heinrich; brother, Fred Loth; and sister, Edna Ehler.
